Fanta Festival Breaks Records with Tarkan
Bülent Kocabıyık's report for entertainment portal MagazinCity on the Istanbul leg of soft drink giant Fanta's summer tour writes that Tarkan's show at venue Santral Istanbul has broken attendance records with 110,000 people filling the arena.
The report also says that Fanta's stage construction for the Istanbul show was the largest in Europe for its height and size, while holding the biggest stage and truss system ever in Turkey for a tour of this kind.
It took 3 days to construct the mega-construction, which utilised intelligent motors, another first for Turkey in concert production to match the record-breaking attendance for the Istanbul concert.
Alongside the MagazinCity report, the daily press note that a female belly dancer accompanied Tarkan for the live rendition of his 2003 track "Dudu" during the show, and that a repertoire of past and latest hits combined with his signature dance moves made for an unforgettable 2-hour show in the Turkish capital city of culture.
Tarkan greeted the mega-crowd enthusiastically, and when called back for an encore at the end of the show, the artist was quoted by MagazinCity's Kocabıyık and other entertainment reports as saying that Istanbul held a special place for him.
"It's like singing at home. Thank you for your love and attention," he said.
Travelling across the length and breadth of Turkey to reach 16 major cities, Tarkan got ready for the mega-tour months in advance, with unique video footage prepared for each song, and costumes specially designed for the festival, comprised of distressed leather and metal studs imported from Italy.
Tarkan took photographer Sedat Mehder on tour, and the singer has shared photographs of the shows and his travels on his official Facebook page with fans since the start of the festival.

Fanta's 10th Anniversary Celebrations with Tarkan
Celebrating its 10th year, and touted as Turkey's largest mobile music festival, Fanta's Youth Festival has reached 970,000 people in total this year, in a month-long national trek to 15 cities with its huge consortium of festival workers, technical equipment and transport lorries.
After a final show at its 16th venue on the 3rd of August, Fanta is hoping to break the 1 million audience barrier for its Youth Fest's 10th anniversary, MagazinCity's report writes.
Fanta's summer concert series has reached a total of 3 million people across Turkey in its previous nine year history, to make it the most widespread mobile music festival of its kind in the country.
With Tarkan headlining its 10th anniversary in 2011, Fanta is looking to attract a third of its previous 9-year tally in a single tour with the popular singer, and break its own tour record for the total number of people attending the music event nationwide.
