Ricky Martin InterviewPuerto Rican singer Ricky Martin, in Istanbul for a concert, has given an interview to Turkish newspaper Haberturk's entertainment supplement, Haberturk Magazin, in which he is reported to have said that it would be "an honour" to sing with Tarkan, who has often been cited as the "Ricky Martin of the East".

The news follows hot on the heels of of celebrity gossip about Tarkan and another international star in Istanbul recently, Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, who has reportedly become a fan of Tarkan's music.

In the Haberturk article, Martin asks the interviewer who he should sing with, and when Tarkan is suggested, Martin responds that it would be "an honour" to sing with him.

If Martin did sing with Tarkan, it would not be the first time he has worked with a Turkish recording artist. He sang with female pop singer Sertab Erener on his 2000 track "Private Emotion" for the Turkish release of his Ricky Martin album.

Martin - who went public over his homosexuality last year - has been brought to Istanbul by Tarkan's one-time manager Ahmet San, and it has been rumoured by the Turkish subsidiary of Starlounge that Tarkan had been personally invited by Martin to watch him perform in Istanbul.

Last visiting the Turkish cultural capital in 1998, Ricky Martin's first leg of his European Musica + Alma + Sexo Tour started on 18 June concert in Istanbul, with a second show to follow in Bursa on 20 June.
